A Recap of 5x100 Miles on the Bike in a Week

The week of August 3rd I partook on a self made challenge of completing 500 miles on the bike in a week structured as five 100 mile rides, so 100 miles done on five different days. What this ended up looking like due to life scheduling conflicts was doing 100 miles on Monday through Thursday, taking a rest day on Friday, and finishing the last day on Saturday.

This challenge arose after Ironman Wisconsin was cancelled. My coach texted me asking if there was any challenge I was in the mood for completing in lieu of the race being cancelled. Funny enough this challenge was something I had been mulling over in my mind for a couple weeks now and when I told her she thought it was a great idea!!

So away I went on a self made journey that turned out to be more of a journey of the mind vs. a journey of the body. My body did what it could, giving out a couple of times and it really came to be my mind that really was the hero of this journey because I would not and could not have accomplished what I did if I had let my body dictate.

To see how the days went check out the video below!!!

Turns out this was really a hard challenge. Gave me serious appreciation for those Tour d’France riders and anyone who does events like that, holy smokes they are hard!!! Here is the recap of how each day went and some of the data that was included in each of the days!

I learned a lot during those five days and wanted to share a couple of the biggest learnings with you.

⚡️Motivation and discipline are totally different.
⚡️You can do hard things.
⚡️Letting go of your data and expectations is very freeing.
⚡️Hard things are totally worth it.

For more on each of these learnings that I had check out the video below, I promise it is worth it!!!

Again, a HUGE thank you to everyone who sent me messages, photos, support, and cheer in general because let me tell you it is seriously what kept me going! I can’t tell you how many times I kept thinking if you just get this mileage you can pull out your phone and read those messages, they 100% kept me going!!!

CHEERS!!
