6 Focus Points for Long Course Triathlon

Are you new to triathlon and feel ready to try your hand at a 70.3 or even a 140.6? Or maybe you’ve been doing them for a while but just can’t seem to crack it? There are a lot of reasons behind that, so many in fact that you really could go on and on, however I compiled a few of my favorite focal points to help guide you to getting started.

  1.   Respect the distance – do the work, stick to your plan, consistency pays off in the long run

  2. Prepare mentally for the toughness of the ironman. The day is long. There will be dark moments you need to prepare for that.

  3. Focus on your form. The more efficient you can learn to be the faster you will and the easier the whole thing will become, and most importantly it will help protect you from injury.

  4. Do Strength Training. This is one of the areas that many lack in.  When you skip strength training you are neglecting a huge part of your muscular system

  5. Nail (ie: practice and fine tune) your nutrition. Good nutrition ensures properly energy for training and for recovery as well. It takes a lot of energy to train for an ironman you need to fuel for it.

  6. Celebrate the journey and have fun. One of the most important pieces
